Lexi Niepoth, daughter of George and Christine Niepoth, has been selected as the Rotary Student of the Month for April. Her determination and dedication to achievement both in the classroom and in the athletic arena has set a high standard for others to follow. Lexi is a gifted athlete who has excelled in each of the sports she has participated in.
Lexi has played on the varsity volleyball team all four years, earning several individual awards including All-Conference Honors. She played a vital role in leading her team this past season to a district title and an appearance in the regionals. She has also been a four-year member of the varsity basketball team, again earning several individual awards including First-Team All-Conference and First-Team All-State Honors. Lexi’s leadership and strong play helped lead the BHS basketball team to a District Championship, a first ever Regional Championship, as well as their first ever appearance at a Quarterfinal. In the Spring, Lexi participated her first two seasons on the varsity softball team and is returning to the team this year for her senior season. When Lexi graduates she will no doubt be one of the most decorated athletes in Bellaire history.
On top of all of this Lexi has devoted time and commitment to her academics which, no surprise, she also excels. She will be graduating with honors with a 3.95 grade point average. Her commitment in the classroom has garnished her several awards as well. She is a member of both the National Honor Society and Student Council, and her consistency in the classroom has helped her achieve recognition on the All-A Honor Roll all four years of her high school career. If that’s not enough, Lexi is a very talented artist as well; a gift that does not go unnoticed by anyone who has seen her work on display in the halls and showcases around the school.
Lexi also demonstrates a strong sense of community. This has been displayed by numerous hours of volunteering. One of her highlights was a seven day mission trip, through her church, to the country of Belize. Through all of her accomplishments, and there have been many, Lexi has handled herself with humility and poise. She is a quiet but confident young woman. She leads by example rather than by words, a quality which has earned the respect of her teachers and coaches, as well as the admiration of her peers. Lexi is a positive role model for younger students and a very deserving recipient of this prestigious award.
