During spring break Bellaire Public Schools received notification that they had been awarded almost $46,000 from the Michigan State Police 2019 Competitive Safety Grant. Schools across the state could apply for funds to help pay for certain projects that will increase student safety in their local districts. Over 366 applications were submitted and Bellaire’s proposal was one of 230 that was selected. Bellaire Public Schools focused on projects to replace old intercom/public address systems in both buildings; add more security cameras and hardware; increase entryway security and will purchase new emergency signage for each room in the district. Superintendent Emery is pleased that the district was able to receive these funds and looks forward to getting the projects started.
