Bellaire High School is proud to announce Nicolas (Nic) Underwood, son of Tim and Jeanne Ann Underwood of Bellaire, as the January Rotary Student of the Month. As a current senior Nic holds a 3.75 GPA and has an impressive list of academic accomplishments while staying involved in many extracurricular activities.
Nic’s academic accomplishments include membership in the National Honor Society for two years and a 2nd place award in the Voices of Democracy essay contest. He has demonstrated consistent academic excellence appearing on the Honor Roll every marking period of his high school career, many times with all A’s. Nic’s favorite subjects include math and art.
Nic is frequently found on the courts and athletic fields of Bellaire High School. An outstanding three-sport athlete, he had been a member of the baseball, soccer, and basketball teams through all four years of high school. In baseball Nic was named to the all-district and all-conference teams twice and has been an Antrim Review All Star three times. Soccer honors include 3 years as all-conference and two years as all-district and a two-time Antrim Review All-Star. Nic also received all-conference honors in basketball.
Even considering his academic and athletic accomplishments, Nic finds time for other activities. He has been a member of the Antrim County Youth Coalition for two years and is an active member of the Bellaire Community United Methodist Church. Nic has volunteered his time as a referee for AYSO soccer and worked at the Special Games helping disabled youths hone their baseball skills. Nic’s leadership and accomplishments make him an excellent role model for younger students. Congratulations Nic, our January Rotary Student of the Month!
