February 2017 Rotary Student of the Month – Maggie Rathke

Congratulations to Bellaire High School’s February Rotary Student of the Month, Maggie Rathke. She is the daughter of Lisa and Brian Rathke of Bellaire.  Maggie currently holds a 3.97 GPA.

Maggie is always up for a challenge.  Dual enrolled as a high school student at NMC, Maggie is taking a rigorous schedule of ten credits and was on the dean’s list at NMC for the 2016 fall semester.   Her favorite subjects are mathematics and science, and because of her diligence and inquisitive spirit, Maggie earned the math department award for excellence during the 2015/2016 school year.

In addition to taking classes at both BHS and NMC, she serves as the President of the Bellaire Chapter of the National Honor Society, was on the 2016 Homecoming court, and was a past member of student council.

Not only does Maggie stand out academically, she is very active outside of the classroom.  In addition to volunteering at Father Fred in Traverse City, ACTS, and at Meadowbrook, she has taken dance lessons for 12 years at the Alden Dance Academy. In 2015, Maggie was crowned Miss Bellaire.

She also has a love for the outdoors and is a member of the Scholastic Clay Target Program, competes in horseback riding, and dog shows.  Maggie and her dog Duke, a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, have competed across Michigan and even had the honor of attending the Westminster Dog Show.

Congratulations again, Maggie, on this well-deserved award!  We will be excited to see what the future holds for you at the University of Michigan and beyond!
