February Rotary Student of the Month


Brandy O'Neal Feb 2016Congratulations go to Brandy O’Neal, daughter of Jodi and James O’Neal, for being honored as the Bellaire Rotary Student of the Month. Brandy is an outstanding student who has exhibited excellence in academics as well as athletics. In the classroom she is a positive role model with a willingness to help others and a readiness to learn. Her favorite classes include finance, pre-calculus and biology. She excels in art as well, where she has been honored with the art departmental award. Teachers and peers alike, appreciate Brandy’s kind-hearted personality and great attitude.

Brandy is a natural when it comes to sports. During her high school athletic career she has been an incredible asset to her teams in volleyball, softball, and basketball; earning the nomination for the All-Conference varsity basketball team.

Both in school and in the community, Brandy has found time to make a positive impact. During her high school years, she has been a member of the National Honor Society and volunteers as a peer tutor. She has also spent time assisting with middle school volleyball and organizing school blood drives. Through NHS, she has helped with special events in the community such as Halloween at Meadowbrook and Bellaire’s “Light Up the Night” celebration. Even though she involves herself in many activities and works in the community, she has maintained excellent grades throughout her high school years with a current GPA of 3.75.

Brandy begins her pursuit of a math or education-related degree at Northwestern Michigan College next fall, where her self-motivation and commitment to education will surely lead to a successful experience.
