Erin Smith, daughter of Eric and Brenda Smith, has been selected as Bellaire Public Schools January Rotary Student of the Month. Erin holds the merit of outstanding student and citizen within the Bellaire community. Her emphasis on school and her studies show through as she constantly works to better herself academically as well as explore her own writing avenues in poetry. While maintaining excellent grades in school, Erin takes charge of many other student groups where her leadership and character is extremely apparent.
Erin has and continues to dedicate her time outside of the classroom in helping the elderly at Grandvue Assisted Living & Medical Care Facility along with the Bellaire Youth Initiative where she spends time coordinating activities for the residents, assisting with daily activities, and simply spending time with each and every resident. Erin has spent well over her 500 reported volunteer hours assisting as she selflessly gives her personal time to those that need it. Her favorite part of giving at Grandvue is spending time with the residents. She glows when she is asked about her time there and the stories the residents have shared with her. One can obviously see that assisting the elderly and those within the community are all held close to Erin’s heart and that she gets great joy in selflessly giving to others Erin has also participated in many athletic sports teams, group clubs, and student organizations. She has continued to keep her grades and standards of studying high with a 3.72 grade point average as she commits her time to the school, community, and others.
